Richmond suspends member for racially vilifying West Coast’s Liam Ryan
Richmond have suspended the membership of a Tigers' fan for two years after an investigation by the AFL's Integrity Unit identified the person responsible for racially vilifying West Coast Eagles' forward Liam Ryan on social media on the weekend.
After being made aware the person who posted the offensive post on social media was a Richmond member the club moved immediately to suspend the person's membership for two seasons, revoking all their membership rights.
The post came to light after West Coast ruckman Nic Naitanui shared the comments on social media and the Eagles' CEO Trevor Nisbett slammed the supporter's actions.
Richmond released a statement saying they would come down hard on such behaviour.
"Racial vilification has no place in our game, and no place in our society, and the club will continue to take strong measures to ensure there is zero tolerance to this behaviour."
