Chelsea have offered Alvaro Morata to Juventus in exchange for Gonzalo Higuain, according to reports.

The Blues are acting on the orders of incoming head coach Maurizio Sarri and opened talks with Higuains representatives this month.

Higuain played under Sarri at Napoli and the Italian wants a reunion at Stamford Bridge after putting pen to paper on a contract on Friday.

The Daily Mail claim Morata moving to Turin would significantly reduce Higuains transfer fee and satisfy Chelseas desire to recoup the £65million they paid for the striker a year ago.

Juventus want £53m for Higuain and the Argentine will need to be convinced to exit the club as he currently collects £240,000 a week in Italy.

Morata enjoyed two successful seasons in Juventus before being recalled to Real Madrid, but his former side would prefer cash for Higuain rather than a swap deal.

With the departure of Antonio Conte this week, Chelsea are ready to back Sarri in the market.

Morata was an expensive acquisition of Contes, but the striker failed to maintain form through-out last season after a blistering start to the campaign.

Chelsea have yet to make any strides in the current window after their transfer targets refused to enter into advanced talks with uncertainty surrounding the London club.

Sarris arrival will end the managerial turmoil at the club and there is expected to be a late push to bring in new faces.

Chelsea are aiming to announce Sarri over the weekend or early next week, with club legend Gianfranco Zola set to come in as assistant coach.
