It’s been five years since Ikea Monkey was found
It’s been five years since one of the most important events in history.
On December 9, 2012, a monkey was spotted wearing a stylish coat in Ikea. which changed the world forever.
At first customers were confused when they saw Darwin wandering around aimlessly in the store’s car park, in Toronto, Canada.
The monkey was wearing a nappy under his faux-shearling jacket, which was a nice added touch.
‘At first, I didn’t know what kind of animal it was,’ Bronwyn Page said at the time after taking pictures of the animal.
‘Then I was like, “Oh my gosh, it’s a monkey!”
‘We didn’t think it was real. It was very bizarre to see. I never expected to see that.’
She had no idea what a legend Darwin would become after pictures of him were posted on the internet.
The Japanese snow macaque was so popular he even had his own special hashtag, #IkeaMonkey.
This is how the world (Twitter) has remembered the event today
Remember how innocent we all were when the Ikea monkey happened.

Last we heard Dawin was living at the Story Book Farm, in Sunderland, Ontario, after being taken away from his owner when he was found alone at Ikea.
He is now five years old and spends his days with two other male macaques.
But whatever happens he will forever be remembered for his dapper style in Ikea all those years ago.
The Ikea monkey will never be forgotten.
