Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku isn’t a natural goal scorer – Ally McCoist
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku isn’t a natural goalscorer, claims Rangers legend Ally McCoist.
The Belgian forward has been thrust into the limelight following his move from Everton to Old Trafford in the summer.
He hit the ground running, with goals in 10 of his 11 opening games. However, he’s managed to score just twice in his subsequent 13.
McCoist isn’t convinced Lukaku is a natural goalscorer.
‘Gary Lineker, Michael Owen, Harry Kane, they are completely natural goalscorers,’ the former Scotland striker told the BBC. ‘I think Lukaku has the ability and potential to score goals that the other three possibly can’t, but I think if you’re talking about real natural goalscoring instinct, these three are different.
‘It takes different strengths and weaknesses to play up front and if you want somebody who is a real powerhouse to get up the park, hold the ball up, give your defenders and midfield a rest, win you a free-kick, Lukaku’s absolutely perfect for that.’

Lukaku was on the scoresheet last night when he netted the equaliser against CSKA Moscow before Manchester United went on to win 2-1.
But a bigger test for the striker comes this weekend when United host near neighbours and table-topping title rivals Man City.
